The identity was built the same way the ventures are: one panel at a time, on the bench, in black and white. Every stage below is a pass over the same body - ring, wordmark, lockup, finish, variants. Nothing was outsourced and nothing was sampled.

REFERENCE
Before the first cut there was the reference: a total eclipse. Black disc, unbroken ring, one flare breaking at the edge. Everything downstream is a translation of that single frame - the ring is the corona, the wordmark the shadow across it, and stage 004 is the diamond ring moment held in paint.

CUT
The first cut is always the hardest. One circle, drawn true, then the wordmark driven straight through it - the letterforms interrupt the ring rather than sit beside it. Nothing is added until that intersection reads clean at thumbnail size.

PANEL WORK
Letterforms filed down by hand: the A loses its crossbar, the E squares off, the terminals stay open. Space between characters is treated as bodywork - panel gaps, not kerning. Two lines only. Nothing decorative survives this bench.

FITTED
Mark and type bolted into one chassis. The ring holds its own space, the two type lines stack to the same optical height, and the whole assembly is measured off the circle - never off the page.

PAINT
The only indulgence in the whole system: one light source breaking over the rim of the ring. Used once per surface, never twice. It is the paint finish - you get to see it on the hero and nowhere else.

SIGNED OFF
Four builds off the same chassis, each cut for a different surface. No colourways, no seasonal versions, no third-party recolours. When the last variant clears the floor, the design is signed and the door closes.

THE TYPEFACE
Nasalization was drawn by Ray Larabie and released through Typodermic Fonts in 1999, out of the same wave of freeware display faces that came off his Larabie Fonts library in the late nineties. It is a square-sided, wide-set geometric sans - flat terminals, clipped shoulders, an aperture cut straight rather than curved - built to read as instrument panelling rather than as text.
The family carries the aerospace idiom the ring mark already implies, which is why it sits on the wordmark: the letterforms and the eclipse come from the same reference shelf. It is used for the lockup and for display artwork only. The running text on this site is set in a separate body face, so the mark never has to compete with paragraphs.
Every instance of Nasalization on this site is rendered as fixed artwork - pre-drawn, exported, and served as an image. The font file itself is not shipped to the browser and not embedded via web-font rules.
Copyright in the typeface design and font software rests with Ray Larabie / Typodermic Fonts. SPACEBOY holds no ownership in it.
Its licence permits commercial use in logos, graphics and printed or PDF documents. It expressly restricts web and application embedding - the font may not be distributed as a webfont or bundled into software.
SPACEBOY therefore owns the logotype as drawn artwork, not the underlying typeface. That distinction is deliberate and recorded here so it is never assumed otherwise.

THE LINE
The line set beneath the mark is not a tagline written in a workshop. It is a reading of Galatians 6:10 - “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
Verse 10 closes a passage about carrying your own load and carrying each other’s, and about reaping what is sown. Read as a build instruction it says three things SPACEBOY runs on: the window is now, while there is opportunity; the work is owed to all people, not to a selected few; and the closest circle - the founders already inside the ecosystem - is where the obligation is heaviest, not lightest.
“For the benefit of all” is that verse compressed to five words. It is why the platform is built as shared infrastructure rather than a private ladder, why the LaunchPad teaches before it sells, and why equity and IP held in this garage are recorded openly rather than kept quiet.
It is set in Nasalization and locked to the ring for the same reason NASA’s own charter language echoes here: an eclipse is a public event. Nobody owns the view.
One ring, one wordmark, one finish. The system is deliberately small enough to be held in the hand and carried between builds - no brand book required, only the discipline to leave it alone.
